Case study
Hospital, Western Cape
100 Hybrid Solar Photovoltaic-Thermal (PVT) panels supply electricity and hot water for showers at this164 bed multi-specialist hospital. This is an integrated solution combining PVTs and heat pump to deliver hot water and electricity to the building.
Hospital installation
Project Highlights:
Industry: Hospital
System Design: Solar Thermal + PV, Heat recovery, Heat Pump and Heat Battery.
Delivered: 2025
The system will off-set: 2,328,478 kg CO2 over the expected economic life-time of 20 years.
System is equipped with remote monitoring and control
Peak thermal output: 138KW
Peak Electrical output: 38kW Peak.
This is a 100% renewable solution where more than 60% of the hot water demand is met directly by Solar heat while the remaining is covered by heat pumps. Electricity produced by PVTs covers the electricity needs of the heat pump on an annual basis
Electricity produced compensates for the electricity required by the heat pumps
